‘Gaze’
‘Gaze’ was first considered as an experimental piece, a study into colour, depth and markmaking. Layering vaious layers of paint, the idea, to deliberatly convey a sense of energy, almost a memory or fragment of self reflection that pulls across the surface.
For me, it represents focus in a world of distractions. A reminder that we are resilient, the abstract marks lending to life seen through visual noise, a world of constant pressure. ‘Gaze’, is a nod to our primal instinct to cut through this ‘noise’, to be ourselves, to be proud.
