About The Artist

Best known for his expansive, expressive abstract landscapes Chris Abrams is a practising artist working prominently in oils, from Peterborough in the United Kingdom.

Since his youth he has yearned to create, be it pencil, charcoal or watercolour. Locally he also practises as a magazine graphic designer full-time alongside his passion for the arts.

Utilising on the foundations built in his career he relies upon experiences in composition, colour and feel to develop the style he possesses today.

By spending countless hours drafting concepts for his clients he is exposed to the beauty of the world around him in the form of photography that, to this day, can inspire his own works. Strong, colourful, expressive brush marks accompany his wide open array of landscape and wildlife subjects.

Inspiration

β€œI love colour, I love expression. Throw paint at a canvas, scribble massive marks, let yourself truly go. I find freedom in that.”

Creatively, during the Pandemic of 2020 he decided to once again pick up the brush, inspired heavily by the work by Tom Croft, who painted portraits of the NHS workforce that dedicated their time to one of the most unsure, difficult periods of the 21st century.

Tom banded together artists from all walks of life to give back a small token of appreciation in the only way artists could; an original piece of art of the heroes that kept us safe. It told a narrative, you could see that on every single portrait.

Taking note Chris wanted to couple the screen time with something real, tangible, something that is creative but deflects away from all the computers and phones of today. Of course, we all had time to reevaluate what was important, what matters to us.

He found a closer connection to wildlife, from robins to foxes, whales to penguins. β€œIt made me stop and think. We share this world with many others, not only people, but we also share it with a multitude of animals.

Only when I take time to explore what we share the planet with do you begin to understand the sheer scale of different species that inhabit this rock. It's absolutely mind blowing. It's something to celebrate, something to protect.”

Escapism is something that organically follows. That is what drives the works he produces.

We have all had that holiday, that weekend, that day, or even an hour, where we truly feel free, and we want to go back there, to let go.

That is what he wants to capture, a feeling, a connection, you may bring back memories, some sad, some happy but that tells a story, and that tells your story.

You will find a wealth of different works here, at his store you will find many price points, he wants art to be accessible for all, therefore be it an Original Art piece or a A4 print, you will find something to suit your budget.

He has many interests, ranging from music to space, architecture to wildlife. We have such a wonderful world. Therefore you will sometimes find the odd different work that has been inspired by a current event or experience.
